Year 4

Hello and welcome!

In Year 4 there are two classes, Hirst and Waddington. Hirst Class is taught by Miss Gerus, and Waddington Class is taught by Miss Leena. They are supported by Mr Major, Mrs Sharp, Mrs Sagoo and Mrs Kelly, our HLTA.

Children learn about a wide variety of topics including the Ancient Egyptians, the Water Cycle, the Amazon Rainforest and the Anglo Saxons. They also build on their literacy and maths skills and have an important statutory times tables check to complete in the Summer. There are also lots of engaging out of class experiences for the children to experience such as a visit to Headingley Water Works. Photos will be added to the photo galleries once these trips have been completed.

 Multiplication Check

As the parent of a child in Year 4, please keep in mind that your child will be participating in the multiplication times tables check, otherwise known as MTS. The purpose of the check is to determine whether your child can fluently recall their times tables up to 12, which is essential for future success in Mathematics.
