Year 4

Welcome to Year 4

Year 4 is made up of two classes: Hirst Class, taught by Miss Gerus, and Waddington Class, taught by Miss Leena. The children are also supported by Mrs Sharp, Mrs Sagoo, Mr Major and Mrs Kelly (HLTA).

Throughout the year, children take part in a wide range of exciting learning opportunities. Topics include Ancient Egypt, The Water Cycle, The Amazon Rainforest and The Anglo-Saxons, helping children develop their knowledge and curiosity about the world around them.

As well as building on their reading, writing and maths skills, Year 4 pupils prepare for the Multiplication Tables Check, which takes place during the summer term. Regular practice throughout the year helps children develop confidence and fluency with their times tables.

Learning extends beyond the classroom through a variety of engaging experiences and educational visits, including a trip to Headingley Water Works. Photographs and updates from these activities will be added to the gallery throughout the year.

We are looking forward to another exciting year of learning, discovery and achievement in Year 4!

 Multiplication Check

As the parent of a child in Year 4, please keep in mind that your child will be participating in the multiplication times tables check, otherwise known as MTS. The purpose of the check is to determine whether your child can fluently recall their times tables up to 12, which is essential for future success in Mathematics.
