Parent, Carer & Visitor Code of Conduct
Working Together for Every Child, Every Day
At New Bewerley Community School, we believe children achieve their best when home and school work together in a positive and respectful partnership.
We value the support of our parents, carers and families and are committed to listening to concerns, working collaboratively and resolving issues fairly. In return, we ask that everyone engaging with our school community treats others with courtesy, respect and kindness.
Our Expectations
We ask that parents, carers and visitors:
- Treat pupils, staff, governors, volunteers and other visitors with respect.
- Communicate in a calm, polite and constructive manner.
- Work with the school in the best interests of children.
- Follow school procedures when raising concerns or making complaints.
- Respect the professional responsibilities of school staff.
- Support the school's values and expectations.
Unacceptable Behaviour
The following behaviours are not acceptable:
- Aggressive, abusive or threatening language.
- Shouting at, insulting or intimidating others.
- Harassment or discriminatory comments.
- Physical aggression, threats of violence or unwanted physical contact.
- Approaching, questioning or attempting to discipline another person's child.
- Photographing, filming or recording others without permission.
- Abusive or defamatory comments on social media.
- Behaviour that disrupts the safe and orderly running of the school.
Raising Concerns
We understand that parents and carers may occasionally disagree with decisions or wish to raise concerns.
We encourage concerns to be discussed directly with the school so that they can be considered and addressed appropriately. Raising a concern or making a complaint will never be viewed negatively when done respectfully and through the appropriate channels.
If Expectations Are Not Met
New Bewerley Community School has a duty to safeguard pupils, staff and visitors and maintain a safe environment for all.
Where behaviour falls below these expectations, the school may take proportionate action. This may include issuing a reminder of expectations, arranging meetings through senior leaders, managing future communications, restricting access to the school building or premises, or involving external agencies where appropriate.
Thank You
The overwhelming majority of our parents, carers and visitors consistently demonstrate the values of kindness, respect and cooperation that make New Bewerley Community School such a positive place to learn and work.
We thank all families for their continued support and for working with us to ensure every child can thrive.
